About
Hard edged reality is envisioned by Doug Frye through his paintings on raw surfaces. He uses the underlying surface color, which can be seen through the medium, creates the tone and mood of the painting.
Doug is a physician treating acute and chronic pain and believes that through his work healing can be found for his patients and himself. By combining the passive observer with the emotional content of the subject a therapeutic force is created.
Doug resides in Topeka, Kansas with his wife, MaryBeth, of 23 years. They have three cats with three unique stories:
Blackie is a shy kitty with a broken tail. He's on the lanky side, but very sweet and loving.
Red is obviously red, loving his super plump, fluffy life. He earned the name Bulldozer since he used to charge at anything. He's a bit weird. He enjoys having his head covered and smooshed by a human hand. Total weirdo.
Finally, there's Ragdoll. He's the floppiest, blue-eyed cat with a sincerely sweet disposition.
Doug's pet family can be seen in many of his works. He loves painting animals (and people along with landscapes) and happily accepts commissions. Contact him for a custom quote!
